Common name: ‘Wind Break Bamboo’
Bashania fargesii is a high elevation, mountain bamboo native to central China. Its has very strong and erect blue to green culms, making it a perfect wind break or hedge. It’s long leaves are somewhat reminiscent of Pseudosasa japonica. Wind Break bamboo is a vigorous runner, making it idea for erosion control along stream banks and hillsides, or for filling in a fast hedge or screen.
