Pleioblastus viridestraitusPleioblastus  viridistriatus
Common name:
‘Dwarf Greenstripe’
The Dwarf Greenstripe has some of the most beautiful foliage of all bamboo. When you rub  your  fingers across the leaves, you can feel the  soft,  velvety texture to them.  The Chartreuse leaves are striped with green in shade,  yellow with  green stripes in sun. This small dwarf is a partially deciduous, meaning that it will typically lose some of its
foliage, even in mild winter areas.  Don’t be alarmed.  Pruning back the plant just before it starts to re grow in the Spring will help tidy it up and create a full, healthy looking plant by the time it leafs back out  You can also mow it down early Spring if it is planted in the ground.  This particular bamboo  makes a very fine container plant. Best with some shade. Avoid strong sun, as it can burn the edges of the leaf.  The Dwarf Greenstripe can be grown as far north as Chicago and Minnesota, although most likely it will be a  perennial, coming back up from the roots every year.
