Vine Maple
A Pacific Northwest native closely resembling the Acer Palmatum, Japanese Maple. The Vine Maple is the only Palmata that naturally grows outside of Asia. Here in Oregon it is typically an understory tree, “vining” its way throught the canopy above it to the sun. Though it is naturally a shade loving tree, it can easily grow in full sun conditions. Expect a much shorter tree or shrub, perhaps only to 6′-8′, rather than the 10′-15′ height in the shade. Easily propagated from fresh green seed.
