You are purchasing one plant grown in a #1 (one gallon) size container. The plant you are purchasing is approximately 1-2 years old, up to 1'-2' tall now with 1-3 culms(canes).

Pseudosasa japonica, Bambusa metake Korean/Japanese arrow bamboo

Common name:  Japanese Arrow, Yadake.

The Japanese Arrow is perhaps the most widely planted bamboo in the U.S.  Although it is a running type of bamboo, it is generally less invasive than most. In its native range of Japan and South Korea, it  is most likely to grow as an under story plant.  Pseudosasa japonica leaves are almost 12″ long. Although it can take deep shade, here in Southern Oregon we easily grow it in full sun conditions.  It can also be brought indoors as a house plant.  It is hardy down to-10° F to  0° F.  Its culms tend to branch out low to the ground,  making it an excellent choice for low growing screens and hedge.  The Japanese Arrow is a great choice for wind blocks.  It can be planted in coastal seaside planting, as sea air has little effect on it.

Synonyms: Arundinaria japonica, Bambusa metake.
Height x Diameter:   Ht. 18’x1”.
Minimum temperature:  Hardy to 0° F.
USDA zone 7-10
Light:  Part shade to full sun.
Culm:  Green.
Uses:  Container, wind break, hedge, screen, houseplant, crafts, stakes.
Distribution:  South Japan and Korea.
Spread: Running.

The last photo is an example of a #1 Bambusa metake/Pseudosasa japonica, however, it is not the exact plant that you will receive.  It is grown in a #1, 1 gallon, size pot which is removed and your plant is shrink wrapped in plastic for shipping purposes.  Plants over 4' will have to be bent to fit into our boxes.  Even though a listing may be for 3', they can be taller depending on the time of year.  Please let us know if you prefer that we cut your plant back to 4'. Bent plants may need to be staked to straighten them back out when you receive them.  Occasionally a cane may break when bending or during shipping.  This will not harm the plant.

The cost of shipping includes FedEx ground in the continental US, packaging and handling, wilt proofing your order and moisture polymers to keep your plants watered during shipping. We can combine shipping of the same size plant for a reduced shipping rate.  If you are purchasing other plants, additional #1 (one gallon) plants would cost $7.99 each to ship. Please request an invoice first. We ship on Mondays and Fridays only.
