It is very well behaved and does \nnot spread like running types of bamboo.  It will get wider at the base \nas it matures, similar to an ornamental grass. We love this clumping \nbamboo (non-running) here at the nursery. It is a vigorous and hardy \ngrower. It can grow to 4'-6' tall in just a couple of years.  If you \nwere to have only one bamboo plant, this might be it. It's extremely \nhardy to -10º f to -20º f and it takes full sun too. We can get over \n100º f for many days straight in the summer.  Purple red sheaths on new \nculms. Very vigorous, rapid growth and cold hardy. Dense, slightly \nweeping habit. Wind tolerant. Prefers organic soils with good drainage. \nThrives in sun but tolerates deep shade as well.\n \u003cbr\u003e\n \u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003e\n High heat mixed with high humidity would probably be fatal for the \nFargesia, so this might not be a plant for those in the southeast \nstates.
