The Canadice Seedless Grape (Vitis labrusca 'Canadice') is a popular grape variety known for its sweet and flavorful berries and its exceptional disease resistance. This deciduous vine produces tight clusters of medium-sized, vibrant red seedless grapes with a delightful balance of flavors that are perfect for fresh consumption or making delicious jams and jellies. The vine's vigorous growth and cold hardiness make it an excellent choice for home gardeners and commercial vineyards alike.
The Canadice typically ripens in late summer to early fall, depending on your local climate. The vines generally begin bearing fruit within 2 to 3 years after planting.
It typically reach a height of 6 to 8 feet when mature. The plant's spread can extend up to 6 feet, making it a manageable size for various trellis or support structures.
While the Canadice is self-pollinating, planting multiple vines can increase yields. Bees and other pollinators can further enhance fruit set.
It is well-suited for USDA hardiness zones 5 to 8, thriving in regions with cold winters and moderate summers.
There’s nothing quite like homegrown grapes on a warm summer day. Their sweetness and burst of flavor are unmatched! Grape vines are an attractive addition to any garden and can be trained to grow up arbors and around fences where they can create a living barrier or enclosed space.
