Phyllostachys Aurea 'Golden' Bamboo
Golden Bamboo is probably the most common of all bamboo. It makes a great screen, as it is a rigid and upright grower. It tends to branch out at very low levels, making a dense, full screen that is great for privacy hedges. It is very hardy as it is cold, heat, and drought tolerant. The culms on Golden bamboo come out green. However, with age and sun, the culms fade to yellow. The lower internodes on mature Golden bamboo tend to become distorted and compact with age. It makes a nice container plant.
