This is the pure green form of the Yellow Groove Bamboo. It lacks the yellow groove in the sulcus (the indentation in the culm found between branches on bamboo). Native to the Beijing area of China. Occasionally, culms will zigzag, which is how it gets the common name of 'Crookstem'. The 'Alata' makes a great hedge or screen. Mature culms will grow to about 30 feet tall with 2” culms.
