'Cherry Red' Currant
The Cherry Red Currants large, dark red fruit have a tart, acidic flavor. Currants are prized for their interesting flavor profiles and vast culinary uses. We grow a variety of plants including red currants, black currents and white currants. Currants high-quality fruit is excellent for jams, jelly, and sauces. Plants will grow 4-6 feet tall and 2-5 feet wide. The Cherry Red Currant produces large crops of large dark fruit. It is resistant to powdery mildew and has proven itself to be the hardiest and best yielding currant. Hardy in zones 3-8.

Currants are delicious in jams, juices, sauces, mixed with other fruit, and dried.
Growing Tips
Currants grow easily in the Northwest, all over the west coast and U.S. In fact, there are some Ribes species that are native to our area! They are hardy plants that can survive well here. Plant them in fertile, well-drained soil and watch them thrive.
Height: 4'-6', but can be kept smaller with some pruning.
Minimum temperature: Hardy to -30ºf to -40ºf.

The last photo is an example of a #2 (2 gallon) Cherry Red Currant, however, it is not the exact plant that you will receive. Your plant will be approximately 2 years old and 2'-4' tall. Plants shipped in late Fall through early Spring may be pruned back. They may not have foliage as well.
