Hydrangea macrophylla 'Nikko Blue'

From Eastern Asia, Hydrangea (hortensia) is generally used as a shrub but can occasionally be pruned into a tree. Generally deciduous, its flowers change color based on the soil. The more acidic the soil, the more pink the blooms become. When the soil is alkaline, the flowers turn a bold blue color.

This is a classic Mop Head Hydrangea. One that may bring memories of grandmother’s garden. From vibrant blue to lively pink depending on the soil, these huge flowers are sure to gain attention in your landscape. New flower stems will appear throughout the summer months and have stunning serrated leaves to add texture.
