Hydrangea macrophylla 'Inspire'

From Eastern Asia, the Hydrangea (hortensia) is generally used as a shrub but can occasionally be pruned into a tree. Generally deciduous, its flowers change color based on the soil. The more acidic the soil, the more pink the blooms become. When the soil is alkaline, the flowers turn a bold blue color.

Dark glossy green leaves frame clusters of delicate star-shaped florets in green, pink and purple hues. It flowers from early summer to mid fall, and will “Inspire” you to watch it carefully as the changes color on both old and new growth alike.  It is excellent to use as a solitary on the balcony, for landscaping, mass planting, shrub borders and even for mixed containers.  These flowers dry beautifully for long lasting arrangements or wreaths, and make gorgeous centerpieces for your table.
