Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Dawn' Redwood

The Dawn Redwood is a fast growing deciduous tree.  Once thought to be extinct, it was “rediscovered” in the Hubei province of China in 1944.  The bark on the Dawn Redwood is exfoliating  and has a slightly pealing look.  The foliage is soft and green.  It is deciduous, so it will loose it leaves in the winter.  Fall foliage is a beautiful yellow to rust orange.  It needs some room to grow as it has the potential to get to 60'- 100'.  They seem to do well in a wet soil in their native habitat in China, but also take dry conditions.  If you have room for a large tree then this one will not disappoint you.  We've been growing this tree on and off for at least 20 years and it is incredible.

The last photo is an example of a #1 Dawn Redwood, however, it is not the exact plant that you will receive.  You are purchasing one plant grown in a #1 (one gallon) size container, which is removed and your plant is shrink wrapped in plastic for shipping purposes.  The plant that you are purchasing is approximately 1 years old and 1-2 feet tall
