Phyllostachys Nuda 'Nude Sheath' Bamboo

 

This is the most cold hardy of all phyllostachys bamboo,  surviving well below  zero, reportedly even as cold as -20°F with only some leaf loss.  This is the bamboo for all you Northerners!!  New culms1 emerge dark purple,  almost black.  Culms eventually fade to dark green.

Minimum temperature:  Hardy to –10°F to -20°F.

Light:  Full sun.
Culm:  Dark red to purple new culms, fading to green with age.
Uses:  Hedge, screen, specimen, erosion control, grove, container.
Distribution  Eastern China.
Spread:  Running.

 

The last photo is an example of a #1 (1 gallon) Phyllostachys Nuda, however, it is not the exact plant that you will receive. Your plant will be approximately 1-2 years old, 1'-3' tall, with 1-3 culms (canes).
