Chicago Hardy Fig

 

The Chicago Hardy Fig bears medium sized, delicious dark mahogany colored figs. Its flesh is strawberry pink. It is prized for being the most cold hardy fig. It is a prolific bearer and is self pollinating. It is a small tree, growing to 6-8 feet tall. It can die back to the ground during a deep freeze, but will come back up and bear fruit the following summer. It makes a good potted plant. It is very good fresh, dried or canned. USDA zone 6-10

Fruit: Medium sized with blackish-purple skin and strawberry pink flesh.
Ripens: Late summer to fall.
