Vaccinium corymbosum 'Elliott'

Blueberries are well-shaped, upright and vigorous plants with dark green foliage. In addition to the berries, blueberries are beautiful ornamental, native shrubs with spring flowers and fall color. They can be included in the landscape as either a single planting, hedge/border or in areas such as native gardens and woodlands. They also make nice container plants for a patio or deck. Blueberry plants are very hardy and long-lived. They prefer organically rich, medium to wet, well-drained acidic soils in full sun to part shade.

Vaccinium corymbosum 'Elliott'

The ‘Elliott’ is a late ripening blueberry that has heavy yields of medium to large sized, sweet berries. It is the latest fruiting blueberry available on the market. It is a very vigorous and productive berry producer. It is ready for harvesting from late summer to early fall. It is a good choice for extending blueberry season late into the year. It is very cold hardy to -25f, which is a USDA zone 4. It has dark red fall colors.

Light: Full to part sun.
Fruit: Extra large blue.

Pollination and Ripening

The Elliott is self-pollinating, but planting multiple bushes can increase fruit yield. Cross-pollination from nearby blueberry varieties can further enhance production. It typically ripens late season, with harvests occurring from late July to early August. The plant begins bearing fruit at a young age, usually within the first 2 to 3 years after planting.

USDA Zones/Minimum Temperature

The Elliott thrives in USDA hardiness zones 4 through 9. It is well-adapted to the warmer climates of the southern United States.
